TMJ: Universities no place to spread political ideologies
Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has said that universities are no place for the spread of political ideologies.
“His Highness Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim stressed that universities are institutions for seeking knowledge and not the place to spread ideologies for the sake of individual or political interests,” stated a post on Johor Sultan Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s official Facebook page.
Tunku Ismail, who is Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia pro-chancellor, said this during the university’s convocation ceremony in Batu Pahat today.
The regent stated that this was because currently, many irresponsible quarters in the country were seeking to “twist facts, create stories and turn falsehoods into truths”.
Up to 4,699 graduates will receive their graduating scrolls in the three-day ceremony, which ends on Monday.
