Embassy: 'Assault' took place in Bkt Bintang, not Bkt Jalil stadium

An Indonesian supporter purportedly assaulted by a group of Malaysian fans are claiming the incident occurred a day before the two national football teams faced-off on Tuesday.

The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur said the supporter, identified as Fuad Naji, then lodged a police report over the incident several hours before the 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup qualifiers at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
