PKR Youth veep tells defiant members: Leave, form new party
PKR Youth vice-chief, Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman, has taken a swipe at those within their movement "deliberately confusing members" with misleading information about the party's national congress next week.
"If they have intention to continue to go against the party's official channel, I suggest that they leave and set-up a new party," said Syed Badli Shah in a statement.
He reiterated that there there was only one opening ceremony for the PKR Youth national congress to be officiated by PKR Advisory Council chairperson Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
"If there were any other ceremonies aside from what has been decided by the central leadership council meeting, it is not considered to be an official PKR Youth ceremony," he said, adding: "All parties should stop from confusing members by using PKR Youth's name."
PKR has been embroiled in a factional friction in recent weeks over who should officiate the annual meetings of its wings.
Azmin’s supporters have maintained that he should officiate both wings as per tradition.
This came after PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasir rescinded Azmin’s invitation and instead asked Wan Azizah, as the party’s highest-ranking government official, to open its congress.
The congress in Malacca will mark the party’s 20th anniversary with the Women’s congress slated to start on Thursday, while its Youth congress begins the next day.
The national congress will be on Saturday.
