Anwar thanks cops for expediting sexual misconduct case, ready to assist
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has thanked the police for expediting their probe into allegations against him.
"I wish to stress that I am ready to give a statement to the police immediately to assist with investigations," Anwar (above) added in a brief statement today.
Police are probing sexual misconduct allegations made by Anwar's former research officer Muhammad Yusoff Rawther.
Bukit Aman CID chief Huzir Mohamed in a statement said that an investigation had been opened under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which covers assault or use of criminal force to a person with the intent to outrage modesty.
Police said they will also call in other witnesses in the case.
Police had already questioned Yusoff twice on Monday and Tuesday in regards to the allegations.
Yusoff claimed the alleged incident happened at Anwar's home in Bukit Segambut on Oct 2 last year.
