Nora Quoirin's parents sue resort over her disappearance, death
The parents of Franco-Irish teenager Nora Quoirin, who died in Negri Sembilan last August, are suing the resort where they stayed at the time of her disappearance.
Lawyer Sankara Nair, who is representing the family, said the civil suit was filed at the Seremban Sessions Court and case management will be on Jan 21.
Malaysiakini understands that the suit against The Dusun resort is over Nora's disappearance and death.
Nora (photo) was reported missing the day after her arrival.
A large search and rescue operation ensued and her nude body was found 10 days later, 2.5km from the resort she was staying.
The incident received significant international media attention.
At the time, police said she had died of gastrointestinal bleeding, possibly due to stress and starvation.
Police did not find signs of abduction or rape and ruled out foul play.
Nora's parents Meabh and Sebastian Quoirin, however, believed many questions remain unanswered.
"To think that Nora might get up in the middle of the night, naked, barefoot, get out of the bungalow into the jungle, bearing in mind the terrain is extremely steep and dangerous, in total darkness — makes no sense.
"We think it is absurd to think about this possibility," Sebastian told Irish broadcaster RTE.
