Warisan monopolising political appointments again - Sabah Harapan Youth
Warisan has monopolised the appointment of all five coordinator posts in the parliamentary constituencies held by the opposition, lamented Sabah Pakatan Harapan Youth secretary Razeef Rakimin.
In a statement yesterday, he pointed out that Sabah Harapan was again being marginalised in the latest political appointment.
The parliamentary seats Razeef referred to are the Kota Marudu, Kimanis, Keningau, Kinabatangan and Pensiangan. Beside Pensiangan seats that were contested by Warisan in 2018 general election.
Razeef felt that the coordinator post for Pensiangan should be given to PKR which contested the parliamentary seat in the last poll.
"However, it is sad that all the five seats are monopolised by Warisan without 'giving face' to Harapan," said Razeef.
The newly election cordinators are : Majamis Timbuong (Kota Marudu), Daud Yusof (Kimanis), Rasinin Koutis (Keninga), Peter Anthony (Pensiangan) and Masiung Banah (Kinabatangan).
He then urged Sabah Harapan chairperson Christina Chew to be firm in safeguarding the interest of Sabah Harapan and not to be seen as a leader who is led by the nose by the Warisan leader.
"Sabah Harapan had sacrificed (given up) many parliamentary and state seats in the GE14. After securing a victory, Sabah Harapan continued to be oppressed via political appointments and again being marginalised in the appointment of parliamentary coordinators," said Razeef.
"If she continues to let Harapan be oppressed and with the state seats held by Warisan, is she confident that Warisan still wants to work with Harapan in the GE15 ?" questioned Razeef.
"I raised the question as I see Sabah Harapan as not forming a coalition with Warisan but simply 'hitchhike' in the government and risk being kicked out anytime," he said.
Warisan has nine MPs out of 25 parliamentary seats while Harapan has 11 MPs.
Warisan alone controls the Sabah state legislative assembly with 31 state assemblyperson out of 60 while Harapan has 17 state representatives.
It was reported that Harapan and Upko had raised their unhappiness that Warisan monopolised political appointment of community development leaders and village community management council members.
Malaysiakini has contacted Liew and Warisan Youth chief Mohd Azis Jamman for their response.
