The daughter of a garbage truck driver was awarded the Best Student for STPM 2019 for the B40 category with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.00 and a result of 5A’s.
Nuraini Jalaluddin (photo, 2nd right), 20, who is from SMK Tun Saban, Pengkalan Hulu, Perak said she was thankful for the acknowledgement of her achievements.
“I never thought my efforts in burning the midnight oil till the very end would yield such results.
“I will make this acknowledgement as a catalyst for me to excel even more while furthering my studies in the future,” she said when met at the STPM results announcement ceremony at the Malaysian Examinations Council (MEC) in Kuala Lumpur today, as reported by Harian Metro.
Her father is a garbage truck driver at the Pengkalan Hulu District Council while her mother, a housewife, must be very proud of her achievement, she said.
“Just by gaining an education, I can change the fate of my family towards a better future.
“My father has been driving a garbage truck for 33 years and will retire next month, I hope he can rest and enjoy his old age after this,” she said.
Meanwhile, the best student for STPM 2019 in the Orang Asli category, Aimi Mahad, 20, hopes that her ambitions to become a teacher will be realised.
“I want to be a teacher to help develop Orang Asli children so that they can excel in their studies.
“I hope my achievement will be made into an example for other Semai people who want to improve their families’ lives,” she said.
Aimi, who is from the Semai tribe in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, managed to score a CGPA of 3.84 and 5A’s.
