This article is 4 years old

The Health Ministry has launched an investigation into news that an ex-minister and his deputy had come into close contact with a Covid-19 patient.

Patient 26 is a senior leader at both Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Uda Holdings Bhd. The two politicians had been spotted with him at an event on Feb 27.

One of the politicians is with Perikatan Nasional while another is with Pakatan Harapan.

Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the patient is in isolation at the Sungai Buloh hospital and in stable condition.

Five family members and a special officer who came into close contact with patient 26 have tested negative for the coronavirus.

Further contact tracing is ongoing.

There have been no new positive cases until this afternoon and in total seven people are being treated for the virus.

The Health Ministry advised the public not to spread news about Covid-19 that has not been verified to avoid creating panic and misunderstanding.
