Malacca Bersatu to support whoever governor appoints as CM
Malacca Bersatu will support whoever is appointed as the new chief minister by the governor Mohd Khalil Yaakob tomorrow, said its deputy leader Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen.
Mohd Rafiq (photo), who is Paya Rumput assemblyperson, said the incoming state government would be more organised and efficient once the chief minister's appointment was completed.
He expressed hope that the new state administration would be supported by the people of Malacca.
“The people want the political turmoil that is happening in the country and Malacca to stop immediately.
"The government should focus on issues related to the development of the economy, solutions to address the water crisis, investment, health issues including prevention measures for coronavirus, welfare and education of the people," he said in a statement today.
Ironically, the instability began when the Malacca government collapsed last week when Rafiq and three other assemblypersons withdrew from the coalition and chief minister Adly Zahari was dismissed.
Aside from Rafiq, his Bersatu colleague Noor Effandi Ahmad (Teluk Mas), Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu) and Muhammad Jailani Khamis (Rembia) defected from DAP and PKR respectively.
Rafiq said Bersatu should work with BN to form a state government under Perikatan Nasional with the support of Jailani and Norhizam.
However, on March 5, Malacca BN chairman Abd Rauf Yusoh declared that Bersatu would not be part of the new state government as it did not attend a meeting to discuss cooperation between them.
