The Pahang government has taken a drastic measure to curb the Covid-19 outbreak by restricting business hours in five districts beginning March 21.

The five districts are Kuantan, Pekan, Jerantut, Temerloh, and Bentong.

This was announced by Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail (photo) in a media conference today at Wisma Sri Pahang, Kuantan.

For the record, Pahang has recorded 32 Covid-19 cases so far.

"We have decided that from March 21, all business operations including restaurants in five districts will be closed from 7pm to 7am.

"We want to curb the spread of the virus and hope that the number (of cases) stays at 32," he said.

Wan Rosdy added that other than the five districts, Cameron Highlands had since yesterday imposed the closure of premises at 7pm.

Earlier today, a notice purportedly detailing the instruction from state police chief Abdul Jalil Hassan had circulated on social media.

The notice reads that all restaurants are not allowed to operate from 7pm to 7am, including drive-throughs and take-aways.

Petrol stations and 24-hour convenience stores are required to close from 7pm until 7am.

When contacted, Abdul Jalil confirmed the circulation but said the state government, after a meeting which included the menteri besar this morning, has decided to enforce the restrictions in five districts, and not throughout the state.
