CORONAVIRUS | After a successful debut last weekend, FesDuRu - a free music festival featuring local artistes and performers - will be hosting another live online session tonight to raise RM50,000 in donations.

FesDuRu or Festival Duduk Rumah features a group of concerned Malaysians who banded together to fundraise for frontliners - healthcare professionals, security personnel and support staff - who are battling the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement, the group said their first session successfully raised RM11,180 for Mercy Malaysia and the #Meals4Medics initiative that provides hot meals for hospitals outside of Kuala Lumpur, purchase and delivers vital medical equipment, as well as assisting vulnerable communities.

"Now, we are planning to organise the free music festival for a second time (#FesDuRu 2.0), seeing as there are still many communities out there that require urgent assistance," said the group.

The lineup of performers includes singer-songwriter Zee Avi, comedian Phoon Chi Ho, classical Indian dance exponent Sandhya Manoj, singer Georgen Thye, singer-songwriter Azmyl Yunor and sape player Andrew Kallang.

"This time, the beneficiaries are Biji-Biji Initiative and Refuge for The Refugees.

"The proceeds will be used to create face shields for frontliners and provide food packs for refugees, migrants and B40 families, whose lives are impacted by the MCO (movement control order)," said the group.

The concert can be viewed on Facebook here and donations can be channelled through Sedunia here.
