Amid rise in deaths, Health DG tells families to protect elderly with illness

CORONAVIRUS | Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has advised people to take precaution to protect the elderly in their families who suffer from chronic illness.
This follows an increase in the Covid-19 death rate, mostly involving people from that demography.
"From the 34 cases of death related to Covid-19 recorded to date, 55.6 percent were aged above 60-years-old and 67.6 percent had chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease and heart disease.
"They are more vulnerable to more severe Covid-19 infection. Therefore, it is important for them and their family members to take precautions to prevent Covid-19 infections...
