This article is 5 years old

CORONAVIRUS | The Johor State Health Department (JKNJ) has debunked a viral message regarding Covid-19 positive cases in Jalan Budiman, Kampung Melayu Majidee.

State Health director Dr Aman Rabu said the message making the rounds on WhatsApp, saying nine residents in Jalan Budiman had tested positive for Covid-19 was not true.

“JKNJ has denied this information. We urge the public not to spread any unverified news to avoid causing public fear or confusion,” he said in a statement posted on JKNJ’s official Facebook page.

Earlier, a voice recording via WhatsApp claiming nine residents in Jalan Budiman were tested positive for Covid-19 with the police and army controlling the streets to prevent the movement of people, had gone viral.

Two areas in Johor are currently under enhanced movement control order since March 27.

Kampung Dato' Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato' Ibrahim Majid in Kluang were placed under a strict curfew for 14 days while health officers search house-to-house for Covid-19 cases.

This, after the Health Ministry confirmed 83 Covid-19 cases in the Kluang district. Of these, 61 had come from the two areas.
