Covid-19: Air Force delivers equipment for Sabah frontliners

CORONAVIRUS | The Air Force today flew medical equipment to Sabah to be used by frontliners in the fight against Covid-19.

The Air Force, in a statement, said the medical equipment comprised of 2.9 million face masks, 44 boxes of aerosol, additional clinical specimens for Health Ministry facilities as well as personal protective equipment.

“The first A400M transport aircraft, piloted by Capt Mohd Hafiz Mat Yusof with his assistant Capt Muhd Izwan Noor Azman and three crew members, carried over 2.9 million face masks from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma). It departed Subang airbase at about 8.15am and arrived at Kota Kinabalu Airport at 11am.

“The face masks have been handed over to the Sabah Civil Defence Force as the State and District Disaster Management Secretariat. Of this number of face masks, 2,860,000 pieces are for Sabah while 107,500 pieces will be channelled to Labuan,” the statement said.

It said the second A400M aircraft departed at 10.51am and was flown by Capt Fitrie Idham Kamaruddin and co-pilot Capt Mohd Amir Shahrin, with five crew members.

“The aircraft carried 44 boxes of aerosol donated by the Old Putera Association for the Sabah Health Department and additional clinical specimens for Health Ministry facilities.

“The medical equipment is from the ministry, Malaysia Relief Agency and Nadma,” it added.

It said the Air Force would mount another flight soon to deliver 2,718,500 face masks from Nadma to Sarawak. - Bernama
