Covid-19: 36 new cases, no new deaths

CORONAVIRUS | There were 36 new Covid-19 cases recorded by the Health Ministry over the 24-hour period ending noon today.

Most of the new cases (15) were in Kuala Lumpur. The "Cheras security guard" cluster accounted for nine new cases while the Pudu cluster accounted for two.

The second-largest number of new cases (14) was in Selangor. The Sungai Lui cluster in Hulu Langat alone accounted for 10 new cases.

The bulk of the new cases (21) involved foreigners. One new case was a Malaysian who returned from abroad.

In total, Malaysia has detected 6,855 people with Covid-19 so far.

There were no new deaths recorded during the same 24-hour period. Malaysia's Covid-19 death toll stands at 112.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 88 people have recovered and were discharged during the same period, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 5,439.

This marks a 79.3 percent recovery rate.

Currently, there are still 1,304 people being treated for Covid-19-related problems.

Of this figure, 14 patients are in intensive care of which five require ventilator support.
