CORONAVIRUS | No further Covid-19 infections have been detected from the May 20 post-cabinet meeting that involved one positive case.

The meeting was attended by 36 people including Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today the Covid-19 patient - Auditor-General Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid - has been responding well to treatment.

“All the participants or members of post-cabinet (meeting) were found to be negative. So there are no other cases detected [...]

“The person who has been identified is also being taken care of. (He is) isolated, responding very well, asymptomatic but positive (for the virus),” he said during his daily Covid-19 briefing.

Nevertheless, Noor Hisham said the mandatory 14-day home quarantine order issued to all meeting attendees will continue as previously announced.

Elaborating, the top official noted that Nik Azman had not exhibited any of the usual symptoms like fever, dry cough or shortness of breath when he was screened before the meeting.

“The symptoms were initially very vague [...] the only symptom was lethargy,” he said.

Noor Hisham thus drew attention to lethargy as a Covid-19 symptom. Another hard-to-detect symptom was a loss of smell and taste, he added.

“Just because you have a normal temperature doesn’t mean you don’t have symptoms. If you have any symptoms, ensure you do not come to the office,” he stressed.
