YOURSAY | Twisted logic – okay if SRC money used to help orphans?
YOURSAY | ‘Regardless of what purpose the money was used for, the taking of money is still wrong.’
Najib plays pity card in Slim, repeats SRC monies were for orphans
FairMalaysian: Either former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak pretends to be naive or he is a master schemer.
You mean he doesn't know that he cannot steal money to do charities? Even infamous gangster Botak Chin used to claim that he spent part of his loot on some deserving people and yet he was hunted down and finally hanged.
Those who received money from a thief ought to throw the money in the thief's face to retain their "maruah" (dignity) but alas this is a "gift from god" isn't it, so instead they treat the thief as a hero.
With the encouragement of PAS leader Abdul Hadi Awang and Muslim preacher Zakir Naik's twisted logic, the likes of Najib and his benefactors will continue to thrive.
IndigoTrout2522: Najib is a convicted criminal. The judge had reviewed all the evidence and listened to many witnesses to come to this conclusion.
Instead of seeking sympathy, he should apologise to the nation for his dishonesty and corruption.
The nation is outraged no matter how he tries to justify his actions now. No nation takes pride to have a convicted felon as its leader.
GalaxyM: If the people still accept him, and what he says is true, then there is no hope for the nation. But fortunately, there are many people in this country who already considered him a has-been.
But it is a great pity that he is accorded with treatment incompatible with the conviction levied and wholly contradictory to the way he was described by an Australian newspaper.
Mohd Bakri 3: Isn't he amazing? He is openly admitting he took the money from a government entity.
Regardless of what purpose the money was used for, the taking of money is still wrong.
BlueBison5323: Najib probably has some twisted logic in his brain.
What Najib is basically saying is that you can steal from the government, in this case from pensioners, since the money came from KWAP (Retirement Fund Incorporated), but as long as you use the money for "good" deeds, then it is okay.
Speaking Sense: It would be easy for an honest person to just return the money if it was not theirs. So, what right has this man to spend it on “widows and orphans”?
Meerkat: He's giving a slap in the face for all the sincere, caring people who run orphanages on shoestring budgets, and having to raise funds while running the places.
If the funds are for orphanages, there would be enough to make a significant number of them not having to raise funds again as the money could be placed in trusts and the orphanages live off the investment incomes.
The Wakandan: So he admits his crime of deceitfully taking from the people apparently for a purpose he did not reveal until today.
It does not matter what he did with the money, it was still considered stealing, which is not right.
To assist the orphans is a good thing to do. As a PM, he could always make it his policy and could officially allocate government money for this purpose.
He did not have to take the money, which is why we cannot believe his reason other than the money was for his personal use. Otherwise, how could he be spending millions and millions on his family?
Newday: This is just another example of so-called modern Malaysia where fiction becomes truth and vice-versa. He actually sounds a bit like US President Donald Trump and Co.
My consolation was that he was “preaching to the converted”. What is not consoling is that he was most probably believed, as he has successfully fed their anger and resentment against those that would ‘politically persecute’ their conman master.
This is wrong on so many levels, yet somehow, he is free to state whatever he likes even though he was convicted. He knows what he states is false, but he is a great performer as I have personally witnessed.
He is a massive fraud who, while on the loose, will continue to stoke the flames of hatred, no matter the consequences, as long as they are in his favour.
His very presence in the Slim by-election campaign trail is a disaster for all those who have trust in real justice.
Cyclonus: You already had your day in court with the best hotshot lawyer money can buy. But, after all the facts and arguments have been presented and debated, it was proved that you are guilty of all the charges against you.
Just take it like a man. Don't whine and cry. It's not becoming of a dignitary (since you are still holding the ‘datuk sri’ title) and from one who hails from the aristocracy.
Ask for forgiveness and make peace with yourself. It's quite pathetic to see you like this.
Anonymous 93887546720228: According to then attorney-general Tommy Thomas, Najib used US$130,625 (nearly RM533,000) of the SRC money at a designer label Chanel store in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Also, part of the money (RM156,000) went to pay for renovation works carried out at Najib’s residences in both Kuala Lumpur and Pekan.
So much for spending money on orphans.
Headhunter: Pardon me, but when did the Najibs become orphans?
Kneazle: One does charity with one's own money. This convict does charity with civil service employees' money. To rub salt in the wound, he was charged with stealing it.
