Public Works Dept HQ staffer with travel history is Covid-19 positive
COVID-19 | The Public Works Department has confirmed that one of its staff members who recently visited Parliament and Kuching, Sarawak has tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement, the department released details of the staff member's movements between Sept 7 and Sept 16 before he was sent to the Sungai Buloh hospital for treatment.
The staff member was at Parliament on Sept 10 for a meeting and later attended another meeting at the Works Ministry.
On Sept 14, the staff member left for Kuching and spent two nights at the Hilton Hotel.
At the Kuching airport, the staff member was subjected to random Covid-19 testing.
Following this, the person was informed by the Kuching hospital on Sept 16 that he was Covid-19 positive.
Upon arrival at KLIA, he was taken to the Sungai Buloh hospital.
The department said it had provided a list of close contacts to the Health Ministry.
"Close contacts of the staff will be subjected to health screening and home quarantine," it said.
Meanwhile, according to China Press, a photographer from the Kedah information department has confirmed positive for Covid-19.
The report said the photographer was suspected to have contracted the virus from his superior, whose wife is a staff of the Kedah Medical Centre.
The report further said the last function of the photographer attended was on Sept 14, where the Kedah MB Sanusi Md Nor and some other excos also attended.
According to the report, Sanusi has cancelled a press conference slated today after advised by the authority, and the state health department also urged media personnel who had covered the above event to do a test.
