BUSINESSES

- Oxygen Fitness, Gurney Paragon, Penang

The management said a freelance group instructor tested positive for Covid-19.

The instructor conducted a class here on Jan 4 from 6pm to 6.45pm. All close contacts have been identified.

The fitness centre will be closed from Jan 9 until further notice for sanitisation. 

- Several Tesco Malaysia locations in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur

Tesco Malaysia said in a statement today they detected Covid-19 cases in several of their branches.

It said the cases involved a non-customer facing staff from Tesco Cheras, a third-party contractor in Tesco Extra Selayang, and a mall tenant in Tesco Setia Alam.

The three locations have been sanitised on Jan 7 and the stores are back to operating as usual the next day.

- Ben's Independent Grocer (BIG), Publika Mall, Kuala Lumpur

The management said in a notice dated Jan 8 that an employee from the wine and spirit department here tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 7.

Other employees identified as close contacts will undergo swab tests and home quarantine.

Sanitisation has been carried out here on Jan 7.

- Village Grocer, 1 Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

Another employee from this outlet tested positive for Covid-19, this time from the bakery department.

The employee last reported to work on Jan 2, 2021. All other staff identified as close contacts will undergo swab tests and home quarantine.

The store has undergone sanitisation.

- Cafe Yamatatsu, Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur

The management said on Jan 7 that an employee tested positive for Covid-19 after all their staff underwent swab tests the day before.

As such, the cafe will be closed for two weeks from Jan 6 to Jan 21 for sanitisation.

- Resorts World Genting, Genting Highlands, Pahang

The resort said in a statement that several workers at its staff canteens have tested positive for Covid-19 during routine screening, and have been immediately isolated. Staff members who had dined at these canteens have been isolated separately as well.

The affected canteens and common areas have been sanitised and contact tracing is underway.

It stressed that the canteens are not open to the public, but the resort itself remains open.

- DailyMuscle, Glomac Damansara, Kuala Lumpur

This fitness centre announced to members that a member who attended a 6.30am class on Monday has since tested positive for Covid-19.

It said the case is likely to be an isolated case, contracted outside its premises, but it has nevertheless contacted all other members in the same class to advise them to go for testing.

Its premises have been shut down temporarily for disinfection and to get all its staff tested.

- Jaya One, Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Jaya One building management announced yesterday that an employee in an office at Block D-61/63, Level 3, has tested positive a day earlier. The office has since been closed while all other staff seek testing.

Jaya One said it has performed contact tracing and sanitised all common areas in Block D.

- Tong Hin Supermarket, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Borneo Post reported last night that the supermarket has closed its Gaya Street outlet for sanitisation after an employee tested positive for Covid-19. Tong Hin Supermarket also reportedly gave its assurance that investigations revealed that the virus was not transmitted in the store.

- Happy Place Restaurant & Bar, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

This eatery announced on Facebook that a diner has tested positive for Covid-19 on Dec 31, as well as an employee who served at a private event on the same day.

Its premises have been sanitised but will remain closed until further notice.

- Din Tai Fung, The Gardens Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur

The restaurant announced yesterday that a staff member at its outlet has tested positive for Covid-19.

The staff member has been quarantined while the outlet has been sanitised. Contact tracing is underway.

- Mei by Fat Spoon, Petaling Jaya, Selangor

The eatery announced yesterday that two of its customers who dined at its The Hub SS2 outlet have tested positive for Covid-19.

The first person dined on Jan 1, between 8pm and 9pm, and the other dined on Jan 5, between 12pm and 1pm.

Both contacted the eatery yesterday about their results, upon which it has arranged to sanitise its premises and quarantined all staff members at the outlet.

- MBG Fruits, Great Eastern Mall Ampang, Kuala Lumpur

The Great Eastern Mall management said in a statement today that an employee of the MBG Fruits store had tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 8.

The affected outlet will undergo deep sanitisation and will be closed temporarily.

- Mama Mee, Cheras Taman Yulek, Kuala Lumpur

The restaurant said an employee from their Cheras Taman Yulek branch had tested positive for Covid-19.

All other employees from the same branch are undergoing screening and have been quarantined.

The outlet will be closed from Jan 8 to Jan 18 for sanitisation.

- Orient Fitness, George Town, Penang

The management said a group instructor had tested positive for Covid-19.

All functional classes have been stopped until further notice. The fitness centre will be sanitised later tonight.


RESIDENCES

- BSP21 serviced residence, Bandar Saujana Putra, Selangor

The management confirmed in a notice dated Jan 8 that there has been a Covid-19 case identified in Block F Level 10.

This is the seventh positive case in the apartment.

Disinfection will be carried out tonight around midnight.

- Residensi Vyne, Taman Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur

The management confirmed in a notice dated Jan 8 that two residents from Block A, Level 13A have tested positive for Covid-19. The residents are currently under home quarantine and awaiting advice from the Health Ministry.

The affected areas and common areas have been sanitised.

- 9 Bukit Utama Condominium, Bandar Utama, Selangor

A resident from Block A tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 7, said the management in a notice dated the same day.

Sanitisation has been carried out in all affected and common areas.

- Le Yuan Residence, Taman Gembira, Kuala Lumpur

The management confirmed in a notice dated Jan 7 that one Covid-19 case had been detected at Block A. The patient was brought to the hospital on the same day.

As a precautionary measure, the lift deemed high-risk will be shut down while the other common areas will undergo additional sanitisation.

- Temasya 8 Residence, Shah Alam, Selangor

The management confirmed in a notice dated Jan 7 that one positive Covid-19 case had been detected here.

Sanitisation has been carried out at all affected and common areas.

- Isle of Kamares, Setia Marina, Cyberjaya, Selangor

The management announced yesterday that a resident at Block K20 has tested positive for Covid-19 and immediate action has been taken, including disinfection.

In addition, its gymnasium, swimming pool, badminton court, clubhouse, kids’ room, playground, clubhouse toilet, and other common area facilities would be closed for 14 days.

- Hijauan Saujana Service Apartments, Shah Alam, Selangor

The management said on Jan 6 that a resident at Block A, Level 12, has tested positive for Covid-19 and two others in the same unit have undergone tests and self-isolated at a hotel.

It said the patient is awaiting pick-up by health authorities for further testing and treatment.

- Taman Kelisa Emas, Bandar Baharu, Kedah

The Bandar Baharu District Health Office said a Covid-19 case has been detected in the residential area.

- Various localities, Kulai, Johor

The Kulai District Health Office said Covid-19 cases have been detected at the following localities yesterday, making up a total of 166 cases.

Senai sub-district: Jalan Nuri (1 case); Kampung Baru Sengkang (1); Taman Handal (2); Pekan Senai (1); Taman Mas (1); Jalan Merak, Bandarputra (2); Taman Makmur (1); Taman Perindustrian Murni (57); Jalan Perindustrian 1 (87).

Kulai sub-district: Taman Pancasila (1 case); Jalan Matahari (1); Taman Muhibbah (1); Taman Putri (2); Taman Lagenda Putra (1); Jalan Rambutan (1); Taman Saleng Gaya (2); Jalan Teratai, Indahpura (1).

Bukit Batu sub-district: Felda Bukit Batu (2 cases).

Sedenak sub-district: Kampung Melayu (1 case).

- D'Summit Residences, Taman Kempas Utama, Johor Bahru

The management confirmed in a notice dated Jan 5 that a resident from Block B Level 23 had tested positive for Covid-19.

Disinfection has been carried out in all common areas.

- Pangsapuri Bayu Puteri, Petaling Jaya, Selangor

The management said in a notice dated Jan 8 that two family members from a unit in Block B had tested positive for Covid-19.

All common areas in Block B will be sanitised.


OFFICES

- Sinar Harian office, Shah Alam, Selangor

A few editorial staff from the Malay daily tested positive for Covid-19, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

Those identified as close contacts have undergone testing and are awaiting their results.

- Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Bukit Kewangan, Kuala Lumpur

The Malaysian stock exchange confirmed that two of its staff members have tested positive for Covid-19.

Employees identified as close contacts will undergo testing and work from home until their results come back negative. Staff who had indirect contact will also work from home as an extra precaution.

Deep cleansing and sanitisation are currently being carried out.

Bursa Malaysia assured that the stock exchange is operating as normal.

- Drs Young Newton clinic, Menara Multi Purpose, Kuala Lumpur

The Menara Multi Purpose building management said in a notice to its tenants that a suspected Covid-19 positive patient had visited Drs Young Newton clinic recently for a normal checkup.

The patient was referred to Hospital Sungai Buloh as a precaution and on Jan 7, the patient was confirmed to have Covid-19.

The building management said they have carried out sanitisation in all affected and common areas and the clinic has also sanitised their unit.

There will be another round of sanitisation on Jan 8.

- Setiawalk, Pusat Bandar Puchong, Selangor

The management said in a notice dated Jan 6 that there have been five new cases here, with one case each at Block H, Block E, and Block C and two cases at Block D.

The office units affected have been advised to do full sanitisation. The management will continue to sanitise all common areas regularly.

- Q Sentral, KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur

The management said in a notice dated Jan 7 that an occupant from Level 16 had tested positive for Covid-19.

The occupant was last in the building on Jan 5. Sanitisation work has been carried out in the affected areas.


EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

- TOC Automotive College, Petaling Jaya, Selangor

The college management said one of its staff tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 1.

The staff was last in the office on Dec 24 and the management said the staff contracted the virus at a family gathering on Dec 25.

Hence, there is zero risk to every staff, student, and visitor to TOC Automotive College, the management said.

The staff has been hospitalised and will only be allowed to return to work after testing negative at the end of a 14-day period, with the management's approval.
