As Umno rallies its MPs, DAP too backs special Parliament sitting

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang is throwing his support behind calls for a special Parliament sitting on the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is as Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan is also attempting to rally the party's MPs to support the special sitting during the current state of emergency.

Even though Parliament is suspended during the emergency, Lim pointed out that the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance 2021 allows the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to summon a Parliament sitting if he deems it appropriate.
