BUSINESSES

- Menara UOB, Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur

A customer-facing employee at this branch tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday, the bank said.

He is under quarantine pending further instructions from the authorities.

The premises will undergo deep cleaning before resuming normal operations and all staff and customers who came in contact with him have been informed to undergo Covid-19 tests and quarantine.

- Northpoint Mid Valley City, Kuala Lumpur

A retail unit's employee tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 19, the management said in a notice on Wednesday.

All possibly contaminated areas have been disinfected, it said in a notice to all retail operators, office occupants and residents of Northpoint.

- Wok Street Food Restaurant, Bangi Gateway, Bangi, Selangor

Former Selangor state assemblyperson Hasan Mohamed Ali, who has tested positive for Covid-19, visited this Chinese-Muslim food restaurant on Jan 11 for its opening ceremony.

When contacted this morning, the restaurant operator Amann Teoh told Malaysiakini that they have been informed of the incident and decided to close today for sanitisation and to get all staff tested.

He said they are also seeking further directives from health authorities.

- Popular Bookstore, The Mall Mid Valley Southkey, Johor Bahru, Johor

A staff member at Popular Bookstore outlet in this mall has tested positive for Covid-19, the company said today.

In an email responding to Malaysiakini's query, it stated that the affected employee last reported working on Jan 15. Other staff members at the outlet had since been sent to take swab tests and to undergo quarantine. All of them tested negative.

"The outlet was closed on 16 Jan 2021 to undergo deep cleaning and sanitization for the safety of our customers and staff. All actions were done by abiding by guidelines set by the management of the mall.

"Business resumed on 17 Jan 2021 with a new team to replace quarantined staff. We operate as usual by adhering to the guidelines and SOPs imposed by the government," the company said.

- Village Grocer, Citta Mall, Selangor

A staff member from the grocery department tested positive for Covid-19, the supermarket said today.

The employee was last at work on Wednesday (Jan 20).

The supermarket was closed at 5pm today for disinfection and so all staff can undergo Covid-19 testing.

Operations will resume at 9am tomorrow.

- Caring Pharmacy 1 Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

An employee of this pharmacy outlet has been tested positive for Covid-19 about a week ago, it is learned.

When Malaysiakini contacted the outlet this evening, a staff member confirmed the matter, saying that a new team has replaced its original staff members temporarily since last Sunday (Jan 17), as the latter had to go under quarantine.

Sanitisation works have also been carried out at the premises, Malaysiakini was informed.


OFFICES

- Menara Exchange 106, Tun Razak Exchange, Kuala Lumpur

Two operations staff tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 20 and 21, the management said in an email to tenants.

The first employee has been in home quarantine since Jan 12 after coming in contact with an infected person.

After the employee tested positive, all other staff who had contact with this person sought testing and only one of them tested positive.

The works area is closed and has been sanitised along with access and entry points.  

- Sin Chew Daily, Petaling Jaya, Selangor

The newspaper company issued a notice on Wednesday that a staff member at its Finance Department has been tested positive for Covid-19.

It stated that the said staff last came to work on Jan 16 and had taken a swab test after a family member was found with the virus.

Sin Chew Daily had since carried out sanitisation at the department.


MARKETS

- Kepong Baru Market, Kuala Lumpur

Fish stalls at this market are closed for testing and disinfection after a fishmonger tested positive for Covid-19, Sin Chew Daily reported.


RESIDENCES

- Various residential areas in Kelantan

The Kelantan Health Department has released the localities where 135 new cases were recorded yesterday.

They include more than 30 places including Kampung Ingin Maju, Kampung Senor Meranti, Kampung Jedip, Kampung Chengal and Felda Chiku.

- Vista Damai Condominium, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur

A resident here tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday, the management said in a notice to residents.

The patient is under self-quarantine at home, it said.

- Casa Idaman Condominium, Kampung Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur

A resident of Level 16, Block B tested positive for Covid-19, the management said in a notice to residents today.

The resident was advised by the Health Ministry to observe home quarantine for 10 days.

The management has arranged for disinfection of common areas while sanitation of frequently touched surfaces will be done more regularly, it said.

- Vista Magna, Metro Prima, Kepong, Selangor

A resident of Level 7, Block A tested positive for Covid-19, the management said in a notice to residents yesterday.

The resident works at the Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market, where a cluster of cases was announced by the Health Ministry yesterday.

The resident's family members are in quarantine at home.

The management will disinfect levels 3 to 12, it said.

- Kampung Orang Asli Batu 6, Jalan Pahang, Tapah

A total of 494 residents here will be screened while the village is placed under enhanced movement control order starting today after 12 villagers tested positive for Covid-19.

The order will extend until Feb 3, Utusan Malaysia reported.

- D'Pines Condominium, Taman Nirwana, Selangor

Two residents of Block A tested positive for Covid-19 today, the management said in a notice to residents.

This follows a case there on Jan 17 (Block A), Jan 11 (Block B) and Dec 30 (Block A).

Disinfection will be done in common areas, it said.

- Sri Pinang Villa Apartment, Taman Nirwana, Selangor

A resident here tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 16, the management said in a notice to residents the same day.

All common areas have been sanitised, the management said.

- Palm Court Condo, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

A resident of Block B tested positive for Covid-19, the management said in a notice on Jan 20.

He has been advised by the Health Ministry to observe 14 days home quarantine, as he only has mild symptoms, the management said.

All common areas have been sanitised, it said.

- OG Heights, Jalan Awan Cina, Kuala Lumpur

A fourth case at this condominium complex was reported yesterday, the management said in a notice to residents.

The resident who lives in Jade Tower underwent a swab test on Jan 18 after experiencing mild symptoms and observed self-quarantine since then.

The resident has been advised by the ministry to continue quarantining at home, the management said.

Other residents in the unit are in quarantine pending their test results.

The management has sanitised all common areas and the affected Jade Tower floor.

- Azira, Semarak and Penaga Condominium, Taman Raintree, Batu Caves, Selangor

An additional three cases were detected at the Taman Raintree housing area yesterday, making the total 20 to date, the management said in a notice to residents.

The latest cases are a family of three who live on Level 8 of the Penaga Condominium who had close contact with a resident who tested positive for Covid-19 earlier.

They have been in quarantine since they were informed that they were close contacts.

They are still in quarantine,pending instructions from the Health Ministry, while three other cases who tested positive earlier have been fetched by the ministry.

- A workers' dormitory, Jalan Sungai Chandong, Bandar Armada Putra, Port Klang, Selangor

As at 12pm today, a total 44 cases have been detected at a workers' dormitory, which houses workers for a factory located at Perdana Industrial Park, Port Klang, the Health Ministry said.

The factory was not named.

- A workers' dormitory at Jalan Perwira, Taman Century, Johor Bahru, Johor

A total 43 cases were detected here to date, the Health Ministry said.

They were detected after a mass screening of security guards at a shopping mall in Johor Bahru.

The Health Ministry did not name the shopping mall.

- Taman Selasih and Taman Perindu, Kulai, Johor

Workers of several factories at the Senai Jaya Industrial Area, who live in share houses here, have tested positive for Covid-19, the Health Ministry said.

To date, a total 106 cases were detected in this cluster called Selasih Perindu, after the two housing estates.

The ministry did not reveal the name of the factories.

- Kampung Serkam Tengah, Melaka

A total 31 of 131 individuals tested in a cluster traced to this village have tested positive for Covid-19 so far, the Health Ministry said.

The index case was detected on Jan 13 through screening of an individual with influenza-like illnesses.

- Kampung Paya Siput, Lanchang, Pahang

A resident here tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 17.

Since then, a cluster of 10 people have been detected linked to the resident, the Health Ministry said.  


GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS

- National Registration Department (NRD), Petaling Jaya, Selangor

The district NRD office is closed from Jan 21 to 31 to allow staff to quarantine after exposure to Covid-19.

OTHERS

- Various businesses, government offices and places of worship in Kuching, Sarikei, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri:

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee yesterday added more than 50 locations where those infected with Covid-19 had visited in the past 14 days, and the time they visited.

EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

- Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor

A student tested positive for Covid-19, the university confirmed.

This comes amid speculation the student had contracted the virus after volunteering to help clean the low-risk treatment and quarantine centre at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (Maeps).

The university said this is not true as it is unknown where or how the student was infected.


PLANTATIONS

- Jerocco Plantations, Kinabatangan, Sabah

All 38 workers screened at the oil palm plantation and mill have tested positive for Covid-19, the Health Ministry said.

The index case was detected on Jan 13 through screening of symptomatic individuals.


MEDICAL FACILITIES

- A hemodialysis centre at Jalan Skudai, Johor Bahru, Johor

A total 18 of 25 screened so far have tested positive for Covid-19 in this cluster involving patients and staff at this hemodialysis centre.

The index case was detected today through screening before a patient was warded.

The centre was not named.

- Hospital Putrajaya

A total of 12 workers and patients at this hospital have been infected with Covid-19 to date, the Health Ministry said.

The index case was a patient who was screened before undergoing a procedure at the hospital.

A total of 191 cases have been screened.
