BUSINESSES

- Patisserie Rui, Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

The owner of this cake and pastry store tested positive for Covid-19 and is in self-quarantine.

The store announced it on Instagram stories today.

The store is closed for the rest of February in the interest of staff and customer safety, it said.

All payments already made for pre-ordered cakes will be refunded or can be used as credits for future orders, it said.

- Ikea Cheras, Kuala Lumpur

The Health Ministry on Jan 26 announced a new workplace cluster involving a shopping complex in Jalan Cochrane, Cheras.

Malaysiakini contacted the company today and confirmed that the Jalan Cochrane cluster involves workers attached to this outlet.

According to the MOH statement, as of Jan 26, a total of 26 positive cases have been detected through a targeted screening on security personnel.

Ikea Cheras has reopened for business since Jan 27 after it conducted full contact tracing and sanitisation works at the premises. 

- Mydin Hypermarket Bukit Jambul, Penang

The hypermarket has been instructed by the health minister to close for disinfection starting Jan 30, 8pm.

This is the second time the Mydin Bukit Jambul has been closed for disinfection in two weeks.

The store manager told Sin Chew Daily that a group of employees tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 18, while staff who had contact with them tested negative. 

- Various businesses in the district of Lundu, Sarawak

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee, the following businesses were visited by individuals days before they tested positive for Covid-19:

  • Mr Pok Junction 5 (Jan 25, 8.30am to 9am)

- Village Grocer, Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur

The supermarket is closed temporarily after a staff member from the Meat and Seafood department tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 30.

The person was last at work on Jan 29.

Disinfection is underway and the supermarket will reopen on Feb 2 with a team that had no contact with the infected staff member and who have tested negative for Covid-19.


RESIDENCES

- Taman Kluang Perdana, Kluang, Johor

A resident at Taman Kluang Perdana informed Malaysiakini that he had undergone a Covid-19 test yesterday, which returned a positive result today.

- Vista Mutiara, Kuala Lumpur

A resident of Level 17, Block B tested positive for Covid-19, the management said in a notice to residents, sighted by Malaysiakini.

A case was detected at the same block in January while five others were detected at Block C in December, the management said in separate notices previously.

- Persiaran Venice Raya, Seri Manjung, Perak

A cluster of cases was detected among residents here, who work at a factory at Kampung Acheh, Manjung, the Health Ministry said.

The cluster has 18 Covid-19 positive cases to date.

The index case was detected on Jan 29 through symptomatic screening.

- Laluan Lapangan Siber, Ipoh, Perak

A total of 21 cases have been detected so far among residents here, who work in a factory at the Pengkalan Industrial Area.

The index case was detected on Jan 21 through symptomatic screening, the Health Ministry said.

- Taman Bintang, Bintagor, Sarawak

A cluster of eight Covid-19 cases was detected here, after a symptomatic resident tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 26, the Health Ministry said.

- Kampung Samin, Sipitang, Sabah

A cluster of cases was detected here, linked to a funeral held at the village, the Health Ministry said.

To date, 33 cases have been detected among the 121 individuals screened, it said.

The index case was detected on Jan 28 through symptomatic screening.

- Kampung Shahbandar, Padas Damit, Beaufort, Sabah

A cluster of cases was detected here, linked to a social event held at this village, the Health Ministry said.

To date, 32 cases have been detected among the 160 individuals screened.

The index case was detected on Jan 25 through symptomatic screening.

- Kampung Parit Masjid, Muar, Johor

A total of 44 cases were detected at a workers' dormitory located at this village.

The cases were detected through targeted screening at the factory at which they are employed.

To date, 183 workers have been screened.

- Mawar Apartment, Sentul, Kuala Lumpur

The apartment complex located in Bandar Baru Sentul has recorded at 27 positive Covid-19 cases among its residents, according to a notice issued by the management which was sighted by Malaysiakini.

In the notice, it was stated that the latest was recorded at Block B on Jan 18. It is understood that the total number is the accumulated figure of cases recorded since last year and not only those recorded recently.

Another notice dated Jan 16 saw the management urging residents to immediately notify the office if they have been in close contact of positive cases, experiencing symptoms of the virus, or have been contacted by the Health Ministry to undergo swab tests. This is so that they can arrange for sanitisation on elevators used.

- Rumah Nelson Nulai, Sungai Seruas, Miri, Sarawak

At least one Covid-19 case has been detected linked to a funeral held at this longhouse from Jan 25 to Jan 29, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.


GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS AND OFFICES

- Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Shah Alam office, Selangor

The EPF office and counters in Shah Alam are temporarily closed for disinfection starting today after several employees tested positive for Covid-19, EPF said in a statement.

All staff members at this branch will undergo Covid-19 testing, and if positive, undergo 10-days quarantine, it added.  

- Johor Islamic Religious Council Office, Johor Bahru, Johor

The council closed its office for a day on Jan 24 for sanitisation works, it said in a notice issued on a day earlier. 

Malaysiakini contacted the council today and found out that the closure came after two staff members were tested positive for Covid-19.

They have since reopened on Jan 25, 2021.

- Pejabat Tabung Baitulmal, Mukah, Sarawak

An individual who tested positive for Covid-19 was at this office on Jan 22 at 8.30am to 9.30am, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said.

- Tabung Haji, Mukah, Sarawak

An individual who tested positive for Covid-19 was at this office on Jan 22 at 10am to 11am, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said.

- Kuantan Municipal Council, Kuantan, Pahang

The municipal council office is closed temporarily starting today after some 40 of its employees tested positive for Covid-19, according to a Bernama report.

It quoted MPK president Hamdan Hussin, saying that the complex was closed for sanitisation until further notice.

Pahang state secretary Sallehuddin Isham, meanwhile, told Bernama that all MPK employees and their family members have been placed under home quarantine.


MEDICAL FACILITIES

- Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Bahru, Johor

The Health Ministry recently ordered the hospital to temporarily close a pantry and break room for staff at its Emergency and Trauma Department.

In a notice dated Jan 26 sighted by Malaysiakini, the facilities were ordered to close from Jan 27 until Feb 2 "to allow for works to prevent the start or spread of an infectious disease".

It is learned that the order came after Covid-19 cases were detected at the hospital.

When contacted today, a representative of the hospital confirmed the notice as legitimate, and that they have conducted sanitisation works there.


CONSTRUCTION SITES

- A construction site at Jalan Lagoon Selatan, Subang Jaya, Selangor

A cluster of 76 cases was detected at a construction site on this road, the Health Ministry said.

The ministry did not name the project but said a total of 880 people have been screened to date through targeted screening at this site.

- Pavilion Ceylon Hill project, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Malaysiakini has learned that Covid-19 cases have been reported at this project site, and it is closed temporarily.

The site is located just 100 metres from Jalan Raja Chulan where the Health Ministry said they discovered a new infection cluster. However, it is unclear if they are the same construction site.

The said cluster was named as Tapak Bina Jalan Chulan Cluster, and as of Jan 31, it has recorded 151 positive cases.


CARE HOMES

- Amazing Grace Caring Home, Jalan Taman Tan Yew Lai, Kuala Lumpur

The Health Ministry today announced a cluster at a nursing home for senior citizens at Jalan Taman Tan Yew Lai.

The ministry said 17 out of 31 individuals screened tested positive for Covid-19.

The ministry did not disclose the name of the facility, but a check by Malaysiakini revealed that Amazing Grace is the only aged care facility on that road.

- Pusat Jagaan Mahmudah, Kampung Sungai Purun, Semenyih, Selangor

A total of 27 cases were detected among staff and residents of a nursing home for senior citizens located at Kampung Sungai Purun, Semenyih, the Health Ministry said.

It did not name the home but Malaysiakini's checks found that Pusat Jagaan Mahmudah is located in this village.

The index case was detected on Feb 1 through contact tracing, while a total of 44 individuals have been screened to date.

- Rumah Seri Kenangan, Kampung Ungku Mohsin, Johor Bahru, Johor

According to the Health Ministry, a cluster of at least 67 cases was detected at a nursing home for the elderly located along Jalan Ithnin, Kampung Ungku Mohsin.

The ministry did not name the nursing home, but Malaysiakini found the only nursing home located on Jalan Ithnin is Rumah Seri Kenangan.

Rumah Seri Kenangan is a chain of nursing homes nationwide operated by the Welfare Department.
