YOURSAY | Betrayed by the same people he had conspired with
YOURSAY | ‘What goes around, comes around.’
BetulMalu: Dr Mahathir Mohamad warned Muhyiddin Yassin that he had mounted a tiger and betrayed millions of Malaysian voters who in GE14 voted out the corrupted Umno/BN regime led by Najib Abdul Razak.
The urge for Muhyiddin to be PM was too great and he became the eighth prime minister through the back door.
However, just as Muhyiddin betrayed Malaysian voters, he was betrayed by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, whose goal was apparently to see that he is acquitted of the 47 corruption charges which he is facing.
Since Muhyiddin allegedly refused to accede to Zahid’s request, his term as PM ended when the 15 Umno MPs led by Zahid withdrew their support for PN.
Was it worth it, Muhyiddin and his retinue of defectors?
Vijay47: Yes, were those poisoned months worth it, Muhyiddin? What legacy do you leave behind? I do not think history will remember you with any favour even if not with condemnation.
For me, it is with heartache that I recall the humiliation you went through, of your own making and often the manipulations of the company you kept, for those terrible 17 months.
For all the strong words I had used against you, I wish you all the best, sir. May God always grant you good health and happiness.
FairMalaysian: No one can deny that Takiyuddin Hassan’s statement in Parliament on the annulment of the emergency ordinances by the cabinet caused an uproar. More than that, it was the beginning of the end for the PN government.
The palace statement that ensued laid bare what Takiyuddin and the attorney-general had hidden from us. If there is one thing that marked the era of the Muhyiddin administration, it was the “hide-and-seek” game it was playing.
Of course, one of the big losers will be Azhar Azizan Harun, the Dewan Rakyat speaker. Once the lovable Art Harun, his reputation now stands ruined.
The irreparable damage he had done to himself and the office he held will be remembered by the people.
9th of May: Muhyiddin will be remembered in history as the PM who snatched the rakyat’s mandate and sneaked in through the back door.
He will also be remembered as the backdoor power-crazy PM who let a pandemic that ended 12,000 precious lives. Most importantly, he will be remembered as the PM who lied to the king and country.
Anonymous2021: They came through the back door and went out through the back door.
The nation knows this. It is forever etched in the minds of the people who have endured misery upon misery never before seen in the country’s history.
Here was a bunch of incompetent opportunists gathered for their self-gratification using the nation’s money. The results are there for all to see.
Fair Play: Indeed, history was written today. Muhyiddin was the first PM who came into power through the back door and had to leave the same way.
He was also the PM with the shortest term in office, just a little over 17 months, and the first PM whose support in Parliament was never proven until his departure from office.
Malaysian Earthling: Treachery against your former comrades and the rakyat who voted for a democratically-elected government doesn’t pay at all.
What goes around comes around.
We pray and hope our king would appoint the right, hardworking and sincere group of people to rebuild this nation once again. We don’t need selfish, opportunistic and crooked politicians to fleece the nation’s coffers further to humongous levels of debt.
Don’t let the door hit you on your way out.
WeKnowYouNow: This is a new beginning and another chance for Malaysia. We can forgive Khairy Jamaluddin as he worked hard as the minister in charge of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
As for the rest, please remove yourselves from our sight.
Cogito Ergo Sum: Khairy, did you really thank the people for the opportunity to serve? You kicked out a legitimate government and you have the audacity to thank the people?
That is the height of arrogance and stupidity. May you never serve in any government any more. You mixed with the wrong company and their stench is on you.
I hope the government is returned to the rightful representatives elected by the people. Be gone and never come back.
IdigoTrout2522: Finally, this inept and incapable PM and cabinet have resigned. The nation needs a capable, dedicated and incorruptible cabinet. One cannot expect different results with the same kind of cabinet.
I hope the Agong will appoint the right PM in this time of difficulties for the nation.
In turn, a new PM will select a dedicated, professional and incorruptible group of ministers to manage our twin health and economic crisis. There are numerous of them, especially in Pakatan Harapan.
IndigoCamel7131: Yes, I hope the Agong will give us the rakyat a responsible PM to form a responsible government.
We waited 60 years and finally, I hope the right thing is done. The Agong is not in the dark of how corrupt our current politicians are.
Please, as the king of the nation with your fellow sultans and rulers, give Malaysia hope.
