YOURSAY | Umno mounts reverse takeover of PN govt

YOURSAY | ‘So, Ismail Sabri is the ‘best’ Umno has to offer?’

Umno unanimously backs Ismail Sabri for PM

PAS, GPS support Ismail Sabri as PM

Bersatu council member: We will back Ismail Sabri for PM

BluePanther4725: Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob was the senior minister tasked to handle the pandemic under Perikatan Nasional (PN) and he has failed miserably in his job, causing our country to be ravaged by Covid-19 with more than 13,000 deaths and rising.

So how can such an incompetent leader become our next prime minister? Expect more people to suffer and die.

OrangeJaguar9341: If this is the best Umno has to offer, it just says a lot about the party.

After all, when Bersatu was in the driving seat, they were utterly clueless. As for PAS, we have yet to hear one sensible suggestion from them.

And if we think this is a recipe for disaster, wait till they name Bersatu leaders Hamzah Zainudin or Azmin Ali for the deputy prime minister’s post. I weep for Malaysia.

JazliSalleh: Umno is a real disappointment. They don't mind deadwood leading the nation.

Probably with this attitude of claiming to represent the Malays by supporting half-baked Malay leaders to lead the nation, it would be decades before we even come close to seeing progress and development in Malaysia.

Just see how messed up our nation is in just one year where nobody knew who was running the country. Covid-19 had ravaged the nation, jobs lost, economy devasted, massive number of deaths and suicides, thousands homeless and hungry, and all they could think of was to hold on to power and disallow Parliament to find a solution.

A Malay-only government was far more important for them than to take care the well-being of all the rakyat. We have lost the plot.

Soon Malaysia will be a sad replica of Kelantan where time stood still from the early 90s. You plant coconuts, you get monkeys. And that's where we are now. So, Malays should think carefully whether they need more of the same.

My choice as a Malay would definitely be opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim. I think he is a better leader than most that we have for now.

Bruclax: Thousands have died and we are not sure how many more will from the pandemic and what do our politicians do? Play musical chairs and waste precious time and effort. How is this different from the Muhyiddin Yassin-led government?

It is so clear what this is all about. This is holding the country to ransom.

Do you honestly think that this is best for Malaysia? If this happens, how different is the leadership and how different are they going to manage the pandemic? It was obvious the PN government had failed.

Please think about the future of this country and the welfare of the rakyat.

OCT: PAS and GPS cannot differentiate between success and failure. Ismail Sabri did nothing for the pandemic but mess it up with his many versions of movement control orders (MCOs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that confused enforcers.

Ismail Sabri was just an announcer every evening on the infected cases and deaths. There were no strategies and action plans from him. Ismail Sabri’s “experience” is one thing, but more important is successful deliverables which he has none.

PAS and GPS support for Ismail Sabri is not about his capabilities and competency but more about the benefits they will get in return. PAS gets to keep all their ministerial posts with big fat pay and perks. GPS will get new ministerial posts as well.

Ismail Sabri has no credential in crisis management. He is a simpleton. So how can he take on a man’s job? He will lead Malaysia to doom much faster.

EmEmKay: Prepare to be disappointed and depressed with the new government that will be installed in Putrajaya.

I really feel disappointed that Muhyiddin who just a few days ago said that he will not allow kleptocrats to make a comeback is now letting Bersatu support PN 2.0.

It's akin to having “old wine in a new bottle”. If PN 2.0 becomes a reality, mismanagement and incompetence in handling the pandemic and reviving the economy will just continue.

Hmmm: Wouldn't it be weird that the team which was just kicked out due to incompetency comes back again with a promotion for the man who handled the pandemic disastrously?

And now, he is tasked to handle the whole country. This looks like a perfect storm.

Hang Babeuf: There is now only one alternative left: for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) to declare that a government of indicted offenders and serial wrongdoers is unacceptable and must not be established; and for him instead to force the creation of a credible "unity government" of competent and acceptable people.

It is a very long shot. But the YDPA should really "bite the bullet" on this. Now.

Fair Play: I guess it’s time for all of us (who felt betrayed by the powers-that-be) to move on.

Yesterday is gone. Today would soon be over. What is left is tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and more importantly GE15.

It’s time to acknowledge this - he who holds the gun calls the shot. If the Harapan coalition thinks Anwar is not that person who can lead them to victory, they have less than two years to find another person who could in GE15.

The wait is over (or almost). Next comes the denial stage. Then the acceptance stage. And finally, the fightback stage.

Me? I am looking forward to the fightback stage – GE15. And who knows? If GE14 was a tsunami, GE15 might be an earthquake.
