Covid-19 (Aug 19): Record 22.9k cases, new highs in Perak, Sabah

More than half of the cases (12,369 cases; 53.9 percent) were detected through contact tracing, while clusters only account for 1,829 cases (8.0 percent)

Another nine cases were imported, while the remaining 8,741 cases (38.0 percent) were detected through other forms of screening.

A total of 163,264 individuals have been sampled since yesterday, yielding an official test positivity rate of 14.06 percent. This figure has been in double digits for 30 days straight, suggesting a significant degree of under-testing.

A total of 1,403 out of 4,348 clusters are still active. This includes the 42 new clusters reported today.

Of the new clusters, 23 are classified as workplace clusters while 15 are community clusters. Another two involve detention centres, one involves high-risk groups, and one involves religious activities.
