Covid-19 (Aug 28): 252 deaths, 10th day in two weeks above 20k cases

COVID-19 | The number of Covid-19 infections today was 22,597 cases.

This marks the 10th day out of the last 14 that there have been more than 20,000 new cases.

There were 252 deaths today.

• Active cases: 268,548
• Patients in ICUs: 986
• Intubated: 451

The Klang Valley has just slightly under 7,000 cases - a level it has hovered around for six of the past seven days.

Sabah dipped under the 3,000 mark after a four-day streak.

Overall nine states and territories had four-digit cases today.

The smallest state Perlis has a new record of 98 cases.

A review of testing data between Aug 20 and Aug 26 showed that 11 states and territories had a positivity rate of above 10 percent, indicating that there is under testing and underreporting of cases in those regions.

Deaths

The death toll now stands at 15,802.

Fatalities were reported in Selangor (91), Johor (45), Kuala Lumpur (26), Kedah (18), Penang (17), Sabah (17), Malacca (13), Perak (7), Pahang (6), Sarawak (5) Negeri Sembilan (3), Kelantan (2), and Perlis (1).
