Covid-19 (Oct 30): 5,854 new cases, hospital admissions down by 12.3pct

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 5,854 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,466,663.

The fresh infections today comprised 5,512 Malaysians (94.2 percent) and 382 non-citizens (6.5 percent).

They were surpassed by a total of 6,715 Covid-19 patients who recovered today. This is expected to help reduce the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 570
  • Intubated: 293

Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days have declined by 12.3 percent compared to the preceding week.

However, hospital admissions in some states are on the rise, particularly in Pahang (+44.7 percent), Kedah (+33.1 percent) and Terengganu (+26.2 percent).

Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Oct 29), where 6,060 new cases were reported, is as follows:

Clusters

To date, 438 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including 2 new clusters reported today.

The ongoing clusters have fallen by 21.4 percent from the 557 active clusters a week ago.

The 2 new clusters today comprised one high-risk group cluster and one workplace cluster.
