Medical Council to scrutinise judgment on Zulfarhan's death
The Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) will look into the judgment of the High Court in Kuala Lumpur on the death of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia student Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnian and determine whether any improvements can be made to its professional code of conduct.
MMC president Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who is also Health Ministry director-general, said this after the court found Zulfarhan's peers guilty of culpable homicide for inflicting burn wounds on him using a steam iron and also called out the doctor who failed to alert the authorities when treating Zulfarhan.
