Covid-19 (Nov 5): 4,922 cases

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 4,922 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,497,265.

The fresh infections were surpassed by a total of 5,579 Covid-19 patients who recovered today. This is expected to help reduce the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 549
  • Intubated: 282

As of today, the number of Covid-19 patients (including suspected ones) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 3.2 percent lower compared to a week ago.

Those who require intubation have also declined by 6.0 percent from a week ago.

Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days has declined by 5.7 percent compared to the preceding week.

However, hospital admissions in some states are on the rise, particularly in Terengganu (+30.0 percent), Negeri Sembilan (+14.6 percent) and Pahang (+11.5 percent).

Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Nov 4), when 5,713 new cases were reported, is as follows:

There was a slight surge in Putrajaya and Labuan yesterday where the fresh infections were the highest since Oct 8 and July 26 respectively.

Clusters

To date, 355 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including three new clusters reported today.

The ongoing clusters have fallen by 22.8 percent from the 460 active clusters a week ago.

The three new clusters today comprised one workplace cluster (33.3 percent), one higher education cluster (33.3 percent) and one community cluster (33.3 percent).
