This article is 3 years old

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 4,701 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,501,966.

The fresh infections today comprised 4,525 Malaysians (96.3 percent) and 176 non-citizens (3.7 percent).

They were surpassed by a total of 5,382 Covid-19 patients who recovered today. This is expected to help reduce the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 544
  • Intubated: 280

As of today, the number of Covid-19 patients (including suspected ones) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 4.6 percent lower compared to a week ago.

Those who require intubation have also declined by 4.4 percent from a week ago.

The R-naught for Malaysia was 0.94 as of yesterday. An R-naught of less than 1.00 suggests that the spread of Covid-19 was decelerating.

However, the territories of Selangor, Malacca, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Perlis all have an R-naught of more than 1.00.

Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days has declined by 6.3 percent compared to the preceding week.

However, hospital admissions in some states are on the rise, particularly in Terengganu (+29.8 percent), Negeri Sembilan (+20.5 percent), and Pahang (+11.3 percent).

Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Nov 5), when 4,922 new cases were reported, is as follow:
