This article is 3 years old

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 6,355 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,575,888.

This is the third consecutive day where fresh infections were above 6,000.

The new cases were more than the number of Covid-19 patients who recovered, which totalled 5031. This is expected to contribute to a rise in the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 542
  • Intubated: 268

The R-naught value or infectivity rate declined slightly from 1.03 to 1.02 as of yesterday, but still above the 1.0 threshold that indicates that the virus is spreading at an accelerating rate.

Nationally, hospital admissions have been on the rise, increasing by 2.65 percent in the last seven days compared to the preceding week.

The rise was largely contributed by Penang (+21.3 percent), Kuala Lumpur (+16.5 percent), Johor (+13.8 percent) and Negeri Sembilan (+13.8 percent) during the this period.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Nov 18), where 6,380 new cases were reported, is as follow:
