COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 5,439 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,638,221.

The fresh infections were surpassed by a total of 6,803 Covid-19 patients who recovered today. This is expected to help reduce the number of active cases.

As of yesterday, the national R-naught for Covid-19 is 0.95, indicating that the outbreak is in decline. This is the seventh consecutive day the figure is below 1.00.

However, several states still recorded an R-naught of 1.00 and above, namely Perlis (1.06), Kuala Lumpur (1.02), Penang (1.02), Malacca (1.00), and Kedah (1.00).

An R-naught of 1.00 suggests an outbreak that has pleateued, while a figure above that indicates an outbreak that is accelerating its growth.
