Covid-19 (Dec 5): 4,298 cases
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 4,298 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,658,772.
The fresh infections comprised 4,144 Malaysians (96.4 percent) and 154 non-citizens (3.6 percent).
They were surpassed by a total of 4,929 Covid-19 patients who recovered today. This is expected to help reduce the number of active cases.
- Patients in ICU: 471
- Intubated: 264
Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days have declined by 7.2 percent compared to the preceding week.
As of today, the number of Covid-19 patients (including suspected ones) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 9.2 percent lower compared to a week ago.
On the flip side, those who require intubation have increased slightly by 1.1 percent from a week ago.
The Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.
The breakdown by states for yesterday (Dec 4), where 4,896 new cases were reported, is as follows:

To date, 233 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including nine new clusters reported today.
The ongoing clusters saw an increase of 2.2 percent from the 228 active clusters a week ago.
