This article is 3 years old

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,897 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,746,833.

This is the third day in a row where new cases have been below the 3,000 mark.

The fresh infections were surpassed by a total of 3,434 Covid-19 patients who recovered today. This is expected to help reduce the number of active cases.

The country's R-number is at 0.93 as of yesterday, with only Terengganu at 1.00.

As long as it stays below 1.00, it suggests that the spread of Covid-19 is decelerating.

  • Patients in ICU: 302
  • Intubated: 169

As of today, the number of Covid-19 patients (including suspected ones) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 14.4 percent lower compared to a week ago.

Those who require intubation have also declined by 10.6 percent from a week ago.

Nationally, the number of hospital admissions of confirmed Covid-19 patients in the last seven days have declined by 10 percent compared to the preceding week.

To date, 226 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including four new ones.

The ongoing clusters have fallen by 8.5 percent from the 247 active clusters a week ago.
