Covid-19 (Jan 15): 3,074 cases, slight uptrend in Klang Valley

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 3,074 new Covid-19 cases today while hospital admissions are generally reducing.

They were more than the number of Covid-19 patients who recovered, which totalled 2,828. This is expected to contribute to a rise in the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 193
  • Intubated: 90

As of today, the number of Covid-19 patients (including suspected ones) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 23.7 percent lower compared to a week ago.

Those who require intubation have also declined by 21.7 percent from a week ago.

To date, 176 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including 10 new clusters reported today.

The Health Ministry will only publish the breakdown of new infections according to state after midnight. The figures for yesterday (Jan 14), where 3,346 new cases were reported, are as follows:

Notably, the new cases in the Klang Valley averaged 1,174 cases over the past seven days, up 16.8 percent compared to the previous period.

However, hospitalisation rates remain moderate (61.4 percent utilisation rate).
