Covid-19 (Feb 1): 5,566 cases, highest since Dec 2

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 5,566 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,876,324.

The fresh infections today are the highest in 61 days, since Dec 2.

Nationally, hospital admissions of confirmed Covid-19 patients have risen, increasing by 19.3 percent in the last seven days compared to the preceding week.

Active cases are also expected to continue their uptrend as the number of Covid-19 patients who recovered, which totalled 3187, were outpaced by fresh cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 113
  • Intubated: 59

The Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Jan 31), where 4,774 new cases were reported, is as follows:
