YOURSAY | How do you solve a problem like Rafizi?

This article is 2 years old

YOURSAY | ‘Who was right and now has the last laugh?’

Guan Eng: Rafizi's target is Anwar, perhaps battle him for top post

Farhash: Rafizi implicitly attacking Anwar, should go for PKR’s top post

Justice: The big difference in terms of wit, intelligence, approach and strategies between PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli and people like former DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng was clearly seen during and after G14.

Rafizi warned Pakatan Harapan of the dangers posed by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. But most Harapan leaders swallowed Mahathir's bait.

Mahathir went on to block the reforms promised in the Harapan manifesto during GE14, as well as discrediting and splitting Harapan, particularly PKR.

Thus, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim was effectively prevented from taking over the prime minister post from Mahathir two years into the Harapan rule.

So, who had directly or indirectly victimised poor Anwar? And who was right and now has the last laugh?

Shadowplay: “Reiterating that he did not wish to get caught in the crossfire between Anwar and Rafizi, Lim said he just wanted to set the record straight.”

Come on Lim, by saying that, you were meddling in PKR affairs. Just say DAP is against working with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and stop there.

IndigoTrout2522: Harapan leaders don’t seem to learn their mistakes.

Since 2018, one of the biggest mistakes is Harapan constantly washing its dirty linen in public, giving an irreversible perception (which is worse than it being real) that its leaders do not get along and are fighting one another.

Now, despite these electoral losses and the loss of trust and confidence in their parties, they are still washing their dirty linen in public.

One clear thing is that the rakyat appreciated these leaders for their sacrifices and contributions, but it is time for them to step down and let the younger generation helm the parties and Harapan.

The new leadership will then chart a different direction and it will be up to the rakyat to accept or reject them. So stop all these negative remarks in public.

Bright Morning Star: Leaders in an alliance should not badmouth one another openly or even privately. Doing so will give the impression of disunity and this is bad news.

Lim should not simply shoot at leaders in the same alliance.

Rafizi was spot on when he said that those lieutenants behind Anwar should do their part to complement and support their leader where the latter falls short and not turn a blind eye or run in circles needlessly.

A good leader needs strong strategists and capable lieutenants to help him win wars, not purring pussycats who only know how to 'ampu' the leader.

The Wakandan: It is probably unrealistic to expect Lim to forget how vicious Rafizi was in attacking his appointment as the finance minister by Mahathir in the Harapan government.

This is one of the things that need to be straightened out, should Rafizi become PKR boss.

EmEmKay: Former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador, you got to remember that Rafizi stayed out due to the concerted attacks on him by his political enemies, especially from BN.

As PKR is losing support from the people, right-minded opposition supporters want young and capable leaders and Rafizi is one of them.

Rafizi has finally agreed to return to active politics. Farhash, please don’t throw a spanner in the works.

PurpleJaguar0553: Considering Anwar’s failed leadership, it’s time for Rafizi to take over.

Anwar is unable to bring fresh ideas to the table. He continues to play useless political games and gets blindsided by his opponents. He has no presence in the political field, even though he is the leader of the opposition.

A convict, on the other hand, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, is more in touch with the common man than Anwar and pushes for policies to help with the current disasters and economic headwinds.

Anwar is nowhere to be seen on social media or any media. He can’t see his failure despite winning only one seat in three recent state by-elections (Sarawak, 0, Malacca, 0, Johor, 1).

Quigonbond: I think PKR folks need to pipe down the defence of Anwar. Blast critics all you want when things are going well, but clearly, things haven't been going well for some time now.

When things are not going well, at least have the humility to self-examine and accept some of the blame and take in the criticism objectively.

The way this is going, is Rafizi really welcomed back to PKR? His commitment to Harapan's cause is not yet in question, but he may not even get a chance to contribute.

Don't supply proof to Malaysians that Anwar is indeed power crazy.

AnginLintang: Politicking doesn't solve the country's problems. It only benefits politicians. We need true leaders, not thieves, not kleptos.

Refusing to step down after repeated failures is a sign of potential dictatorship. If Anwar becomes prime minister, what sort of a prime minister will he be?

I believe he will hang to power just as badly as Mahathir. It could be worse.

PinkCougar9549: Politics is a game of possibilities. Harapan alone has no chance to win GE15. It’s how you come out with a winning formula.

The fact is that it doesn't have a winnable formula now.

Headhunter: The disappointment we have in our politicians. They never failed to fail us. Once in a while, one crawled out of a cave and we think we found our saviour.

The reality is, Malaysia cannot be saved unless we get rid of all the religious fanatics and racists in the government. Just look at how some still can worship and kiss the behind of one of the biggest thieves in the world.
