Covid-19 (April 17): 6,623 new cases, lowest since Feb 3
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 6,623 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative infections to 4,389,025.
This is the lowest number of new cases since Feb 3 when 5,720 were reported. In between that time, infections went up to as high as 32,800 on March 11.
Active cases stood at 103,901, down 42.1 percent compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows:

Another 12 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which eight were declared as 'brought in dead'.
Over the past week, an average of 18.4 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 39.3, indicating that such deaths are on the downtrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,421 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.
There have been 438 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 2,235 last month and 770 in February.
The state with the highest number of deaths was Kedah (4) followed by Penang (3), Sarawak (2), Malacca (1), Perak (1) and Selangor (1).
Malaysia has the highest number of deaths per capita in the Asean and East Asian regions with 1,069 deaths per 1 million population, and the fourth-worst in Asia after Iran, Lebanon and Jordan – all in the Middle East.
There are 2,124 Covid-19 patients in hospital of which 126 require intensive care.
The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (156) followed by Johor (94) and Sabah (59).
