Covid-19 (July 8): 3,589 new cases, 6 deaths
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 3,589 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,589,911.
Active cases currently stood at 35,198, up 25.7 percent compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows:

Perak (275)
Negeri Sembilan (198)
Sabah (176)
Penang (121)
Malacca (97)
Putrajaya (74)
Johor (69)
Sarawak (59)
Kedah (55)
Pahang (46)

Another six deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which two were declared as "brought in dead".
Over the past week, an average of 4.3 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 3.2, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,801 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.
The states which recorded Covid deaths are Malacca (1), Negeri Sembilan (1), Perak (1), Penang (1), Sarawak (1) and Selangor (1).
There are 1,241 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 42 are in intensive care.
The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (172) followed by Johor (99) and Sabah (76).
