Covid-19 (July 16): 5,047 new cases, 4 fatalities
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 5,047 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,619,045.
Active cases stood at 42,481, up 42.7 percent compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows:

Another four deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one was declared as "brought in dead".
The state with the highest number of deaths was Selangor (three) followed by Negeri Sembilan (one).
Over the past week, an average of 5.6 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 3.9, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,848 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.
There are 1,459 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 60 are in intensive care.
The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (167) followed by Johor (113) and Sabah (74).
