Property tycoon Mustapha Kamal dies aged 73

Property tycoon Mustapha Kamal Abu Bakar died this morning at the age of 73.

According to a report by Astro Awani, the property industry veteran passed away at 7.45am at the National Heart Institute and will be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery in Kuala Lumpur today.

He founded Emkay in 1983 and the group is known for its developments in Cyberjaya, which are valued at more than RM2.5bil, via associate companies MK Land Holdings Bhd and Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd.

He initially began his career as a civil servant with the Selangor government, going on to serve as a deputy commissioner at the lands and mines department.
