Covid-19 (Aug 4): 4,413 new cases, 8 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 4,413 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 47,534, down -2.3 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Kedah (123)

Kelantan (93)

Another eight deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which four were declared as "brought in dead".

Deaths were reported in Johor (2), Kedah (2), Malacca (1), Negeri Sembilan (1), Perak (1) and Sabah (1).

Over the past week, an average of 8.1 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 7.2, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,003 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There are 1,531 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 52 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (137) followed by Johor (92) and Sabah (77).
