Covid-19 (Sept 22): 2,245 new cases, 12 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,245 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active infections stood at 25,659, down 6.3 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Kedah (76)

Pahang (50)
Johor (40)

Another 12 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which seven were declared as "brought in dead".

These deaths were reported in Kedah (4), Selangor (4), Pahang (1), Sabah (1), Sarawak (1) and Kuala Lumpur (1).

This is the highest number of deaths reported in a single day since Aug 17.

Over the past week, an average of 6.1 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 5.9, indicating that such deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,342 deaths have been attributed to the disease.

There have been 126 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 247 deaths last month and 204 in July.

There are 1,163 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 55 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (85) followed by Sabah (70) and Johor (61).
