Two films in limbo after falling short on crowdfunding goal
Two films relying on crowdfunding to get made have fallen short of their target amount.
On Aug 2, Malaysiakini ran a story about efforts to get crowdfunding for a movie on segregation called ‘Pendatang’, directed by Ng Ken Kin from a screenplay by Lim Boon Siang and Malaysian film company Kuman Pictures
Kuman Pictures managing director Amir Muhammad, a local filmmaker himself, said their target was to hit RM300,000.
‘Pendatang’ is a dystopian thriller, set in Malaysia, and imagines a scenario where the different races are forcefully segregated by law.
