NGOs offer free bus ride for GE15 voters from Puchong to 5 states

A group of non-governmental organisations (NGO) is offering free bus rides for eligible voters to return to their hometowns from the Klang Valley for the forthcoming 15th general election.

According to its press statement, the initiative provides transport from Bandar Kinrara in Puchong to several locations in Johor, Pahang, Penang, Perak, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

"In line with the GE15 to be held on Nov 19, KLSCAH Civil Rights Committee, Sayangi Kinrara and SKLHA Youth have jointly organised 'PRU15 Free Buses Service' to transport eligible voters from Puchong to their respective hometowns.

"All free buses will be departing from Dewan Masyarakat BK2 in Puchong, which is located near the Kinrara BK5 LRT station, at 8pm on Nov 18.

"The eight routes are (from Puchong to) Tangkak - Yong Peng - JB - Pontian; Muar - Batu Pahat; Kuantan; Penang; Ipoh - Taiping; Alor Star; Kota Bharu and Kuala Terengganu," the group said.

It also offers a return bus ride to Puchong the next day (polling day) for participants. The buses will depart from their respective locations at 6pm.

According to the group, those who wish to participate can register through a Google Form they have provided by Nov 16.

‘Service open to all eligible voters’

"The free bus service is open to all eligible voters, and the deadline for registration will be on Nov 16 (Tuesday).

"Bus seats are given out on a first-come, first-served basis - subject to availability.

"All successful applicants will be notified by the organiser via WhatsApp from now until Nov 16. Applicants must present the WhatsApp message as proof on the day of departure," their statement said.

The group also stressed that they would neither interfere nor ask applicants about their political preferences and not advocate any political party for the public to vote.

Their hope was only to encourage more voters to return to their hometowns and carry out their duties as voters.

"By doing this, they will exercise their civic responsibility, and decide the future of our political parties and country," the three NGOs added.
