Covid-19 (Nov 17): 3,457 new cases, 9 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 3,457 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 27,877, down 21.5 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Another nine deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday in Selangor (3), Negeri Sembilan (2), Sabah (2), Pahang (1), and Perak (1).

Over the past week, an average of 7.1 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 5.2, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,583 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 108 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 101 deaths last month and 158 deaths in September.

There are 1,970 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised, of which 89 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (167), followed by Johor (99) and Sabah (90).
