Covid-19 (Dec 13): 1,040 new cases, 9 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 1,040 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 17,547, down 29.7 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Malacca (62)
Putrajaya (53)
Kelantan (52)
Penang (50)
Sabah (47)
Negeri Sembilan (43)
Pahang (34)
Perak (31)

Another 9 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which 3 were declared as "brought in dead".

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,778 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 94 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 209 deaths last month and 101 deaths in October.

There are 1,100 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised, of whom 69 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Sabah (72) followed by Selangor (57) and Perak (32).
