Covid-19 (Dec 18): 847 new cases, 6 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 847 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active infections stood at 15,736, down 27.8 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (405)
Kuala Lumpur (66)
Penang (47)
Negeri Sembilan (46)
Kedah (42)
Sarawak (40)
Malacca (39)
Perak (35)
Sabah (30)
Johor (23)
Putrajaya (19)
Kelantan (18)
Pahang (17)
Terengganu (15)
Perlis (5)

Another six deaths attributed to the disease were reported yesterday in Johor (2), Perak (2), Pahang (1) and Perlis (1).

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,806 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus.

There have been 122 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 209 deaths last month and 101 in October.

There are 963 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 49 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (75) followed by Sabah (53) and Sarawak (30).
