Covid-19 (Dec 21): 984 new cases, 7 deaths

The Health Ministry said 984 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 5,020,384.

Active cases stood at 14,854, down 30.8 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (391)

Kuala Lumpur (111)

Sarawak (104)

Kedah (50)

Malacca (49)

Penang (48)

Perak (45)

Kelantan (36)

Sabah (33)

Pahang (31)

Negeri Sembilan (29)

Johor (18)

Putrajaya (18)

Terengganu (12)

Perlis (5)

Labuan (4)

Another seven deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one was declared as “brought in dead”.

Over the past week, an average of 5.3 people were reported to have died of Covid-19 daily, while the average for the past 30 days was 7.1, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,821 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

The state with the highest death was Selangor (2), followed by Kedah (1), Negeri Sembilan (1), Perak (1), Penang (1), and Labuan (1).

There are 842 Covid-19 patients hospitalised of which 37 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Kedah (83) followed by Selangor (68) and Sabah (41).
