Widow gets RM106k Socso payout, 21 years after husband’s death

A single mother received a lump sum pension benefit of more than RM100,000 from the Social Security Organisation (Socso) some 21 years after her late husband passed away.
According to a report by Utusan Malaysia, Zaliha Yunus, 57, from Kampung Surau Haji Yaakub, Terengganu lost her husband Ali Embong to a bacterial infection in December 2002.
Her late husband worked as a surveyor's assistant in a private company, but Zaliha said that a review at the time of his death revealed that her late husband's employer had not made contributions since 1997, even though the deceased was registered under Socso...
